Tamiya 1-12 Ferrari 312B Engine assembly

Sometimes, when modeling donor kits, I realize that the parts I’m digitizing actually make something other than a Millennium Falcon… Most of the engine parts from Ferrari 312B are used. Assembling them digitally was a cool way of cross-checking that my parts are accurate. All the little gaps and misalignments in the original plastic parts are a good test of accuracy…

Master Model Update

Those gun platforms and docking rings will need to attach to something. Our master model is still in flux. More than a year after Andre and I published our version 1.0 draft, we’re still discovering new things. Not ready to start cutting plastic yet, still some details to work out. Thank goodness digital prototyping in Fusion 360 allows us to make all sorts of mistakes for free…

The quad gun will be eventually have a cast cradle made from printed bits and donor parts. The barrels are printed and slipped over a brass tube core with the donor bits added to the back third.
